MUSIC FOR WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS
MUSIKK FOR BRYLLUP OG BEGRAVELSER
The author Sara still lives in the sterile modernist mansion that her architect ex-husband's designed. She struggles to come to terms with divorce and the loss of her only child. With the success of her latest novel comes a new wish to celebrate life. She rents out the basement to the colourful Serbian musician Bogdan, and suddenly the sterile house blooms into life. The sudden and unexpected death of her husband in the house opens a well-hidden closet: his infidelity comes to light with the face of more than one woman…
Music for Weddings and Funerals is a tale of loss and reconciliation.

The film was the first Norwegian feature film at the film biennale in Venezia for more than 20 years.

Director
Unni Straume started out as a maker of documentaries, and her first feature film was To a Stranger (1990). Since then she has directed the short film Derailed (1993), which was selected for Cannes, and the feature films Dreamplay (1994) and Thrane's Method (1998).
